Dear Rumpus Families,
You will no doubt have heard that we have signed another agreement with the Newcastle Jockey Club for a second Rumpus Room around the corner in Chatham St. Plans are currently being finalised and we will have them on display shortly for you to have a look when you come in.
We want to thank you all for the generous word of mouth support that we have received. We have so many enquiries who tell us that they have heard wonderful things about The Rumpus Room. We really appreciate your kind commendation. As a result, our waiting lists have been swelling, and we are keen to do what we can to help meet this need.
Lea and I, along with our very dedicated team are continuing to explore the depth and breadth of what makes for an excellent children’s centre. The focus is, and must continue to be, all about our children and what will enrich their lives as they journey through the first 4 to 5 years. You’re no doubt aware that we are constantly developing a quality improvement plan which assists us in formally evaluating areas for development for the benefit of all our children. Whilst this is required for formal Assessment and Rating as a Children’s Service, we see this more as a tool for our own aspirations for excellence.
We are fortunate that early childhood is finally receiving greater attention across the globe, and governments are realising the critical importance of a child’s development in the first 5 years of their life. Our Commonwealth has committed a significant amount of funding for the training and development of staff in early childhood centres like ours. We have just received notice that The Rumpus Room will be the recipient of over $40,000 of Commonwealth funding over the next 24 months, designated for quality improvement and staff training. We will be developing a very strategic implementation plan to make best use of these funds and believe the children will ultimately benefit from this focused training that their teachers and carers will be receiving.
Once again, thank you for entrusting us with your beautiful children.
Richard and Lea
